WHO WE ARE

At Healthy Alliance, our purpose is to improve health and empower the underserved. Every community has its own needs, affecting the health of those who live, learn, work, and play within them. Our network brings together organizations, big and small, to coordinate and collaborate so that all communities have reliable access to the resources they need.

Why? Because every New Yorker deserves the same opportunity to be healthy.

WHAT WE DO

Our goal is to ensure every New Yorker has access to the social services they need – ranging from stable housing, healthy food, assistance with benefits navigation, clothing and household goods, transportation – and so much more.

We believe that by addressing these social needs before they turn into medical problems, it will improve the overall health of our communities, while lowering medical costs for all.

HOW IT WORKS

The work we do is largely possible thanks to our statewide referral platform, used to connect thousands of community members in need to our growing network of 580+ organizations (ranging from regional hospitals to local schools and food pantries) offering a wide range of programs and services that are essential to one’s health and wellbeing.

Our network has grown organically over the years – both in scope and geography – and will continue to do so. Just like any public utility – gas, electricity – our work won’t stop until we’ve created a collaborative network available to every New Yorker in need.

HEALTHY ALLIANCE’S IPA

As one of the first Independent Practice Associations (IPAs) in the nation focused explicitly on social determinants of health, we’ve forged a new path toward successfully building and optimizing an integrated network while contracting for social care services with managed care organizations. Our plan is to continue to build relationships on both sides of this work: growing the breadth and scope of the organizations who join the IPA, while growing the number of health plans with whom we partner.

Today is Juneteenth, the day freedom finally came in 1865 in Galveston, Texas for more than 250,000 enslaved Black people — which marked an effective end of slavery in the United States.

Let Juneteenth remind us of our history. Commemorate the past to build a better future. Change is possible, and there is still so much work to do. Together, we can make a lasting difference.

Thursday was a bittersweet day for the Healthy Alliance team; we celebrated our CAO/CFO, Michele Kelly, and Performance Manager, Karen Smith, at Frog Alley Brewing to soak up the time we have left before their upcoming retirement/step back from full-time work.

We're so sad to see these two amazing women go, but we couldn't be happier for them as they embark on a new chapter in life! There were some teary eyes, but there were even more smiles and laughter as we reminisced on our time together. Michele and Karen are our forever friends. 💗

Thank you both for all you've done over the years to cultivate the type of change that improves health and empowers the underserved. Cheers to you, Miche#healthyallianceH#TeamCelebrationT#retirementi#thankyouement #ThankYou

What’s a data analyst’s favorite genre of music? Algorithm and blues! 🥁

We opened with some data dad jokes before revealing the 2024 Q2 recipient of our Quarterly Employee Recognition Award at yesterday’s all-staff meeting. The dad jokes were especially fitting as it was a proud parent-type of moment celebrating this data team OG’s incredible growth and achievements over the years.

With this person’s enthusiasm to take on new tasks and challenges and absorb all there is to know about data also comes a data team mascot, who we couldn’t leave out of Sam Morley’s celebration! 🐈

We brought along a lookalike of Sam’s cat Henry, who makes regular appearances in team meetings, so he could be at staff meeting in spirit to recognize Sam!

Congratulations, Sam! We’re lucky to have you as part of the team! 🥳
